The day fills out

+ An evening meal can be introduced: a bottle with cereals, or a purée of starch, vegetables and fat (no protein in the evening).

Mashed or crushed

No more compulsory smooth purées: mashed, or crushed with a spoon.

Water on demand

Still water is offered freely through the day — especially in hot weather.

First soft chunks

From 7 months, or as soon as baby sits up unaided: very soft pieces they crush with tongue and palate. Entirely optional — it slowly teaches them to eat with their hands.

Purée of starch, vegetables and fat

+ Whole cow's milk can replace breast or formula milk, and a cheese can be added to the meal.

On to real chunks

Meals move to soft chunks, fork-crushed, and to sticks baby picks up alone.

Plain dairy only

Not sweetened, not flavoured, not low-fat: a plain dairy counts towards the 500 ml of milk a day.
